Junior High Boys Qualify Six for OAC State Tournament​
Six Redskin Wrestlers qualified for the Ohio Athletic Committee's State Tournament to be held March 21-22 at Youngstown State's Covelli Center. The top six placers in each weight class from each of eight districts earn automatic qualification for the State event. Complete Results

MS Wrestlers Close Out Regular Season​
The MS Wrestling Team wrapped up their regular season with a 4-2 record and fifth place finish at the Coldwater Duals Saturday. Ian Zwiebel went 5-1 on the day while Keegan Moening went 4-1 and Zach Williams and Max Morgan went 4-2.

Redskins Wrap up Dual Meets 9-0; Set Sights on WBL Tournament​
The Wapakoneta Redskins Wrestlers wrapped up their Western Buckeye League dual meet season with an unblemished 9-0 record by defeating Elida 60-18 Tuesday night. Next up, the WBL Tournament on Feb. 21 at St. Marys. The dual meet season and the Team tournament each count half towards the WBL Championship. The middle school Wrestlers also improved to 9-0 in WBL duals this season with a 44-28 victory. There is no middle school WBL tournament.​

Bellevue Knocks Skins Out of State Duals​
Wapakoneta hosted the Division II State Duals Regional on Saturday with the winner advancing to next week's championship at Bishop Watterson high school. Bellevue bested Celina in the opening round 47-29 to set up a matchup with the host Redskins. When the dust settled, each Team had won 7 matches and the score was deadlocked at 34. Bellevue won the match by virtue of having more pins then Wapakoneta, 4-3.

MS Goes 5-0 to Win Defiance TSBW Tournament
The middle school Wrestlers won all five matches to claim the title at the Defiance MS Tri-State Border War dual meet tournament. The Redskins defeated Ridgedale 82-0, Defiance 74-4, Allen East 63-22, Wauseon 65-24, and in the Championship match Celina 58-25. Mason Brown, Ian Zwiebel, Asher Miller, Elijah Essex, Landen Friemoth, and Andre Varno each went 5-0 on the day. Results

Both the high school and middle school Wrestling squads remain undefeated in WBL duals with just Elida remaining on the schedule for the season. The varsity defeated Kenton 67-14 to remain atop the WBL. ​

Wapak Wrestling Weekend Wrap-up​​
MS Wins Elida Tournament
The middle school Wrestlers placed in eleven of thirteen rostered weight classes and captured the Team title at the 20-Team Elida Invitational. Elida, Coldwater, Celina, and Allen East rounded out the top five.​ Mason Brown (80lbs), Asher Miller (104lbs), and Bennett Bishop (110lbs) led the way for the Skins with each finishing as Champion. Hunter Stidham (98lbs), Cruz Mendez (128lbs), Gabe Eyanson (142lbs), and Keegan Moening (160lbs) each had a strong day and finished Runner-up.

Lady Wrestlers Compete at Iron Maiden;
Jackson Finishes Atop Podium
The HS and MS ladies competed at the very challenging Iron Maiden tournament in Bellefontaine over the weekend. Sophomore Abby Furr turned in the top performance of the HS Wrestlers going 2-2 on the weekend. MS Wrestler Kenize Jackson went an unblemished 4-0 on Saturday to lay claim to the 128lb title. The 8th grader recorded a pair of pins and a pair of major decisions.

Junior Varsity Grapplers Finish Third at Butler JV Classic
The junior varsity wrestlers competed at Vandalia Butler Saturday and came away with a third place Team finish. Individual championships were won by freshman Crue Shaner (106lbs) and junior Carson Pummell (132lbs)

Skins Defeat Shawnee: Buell Breaks Career Pin Mark​
The Wapakoneta Wrestling Team knocked off Shawnee 56-13 Thursday to advance to 7-0 in Western Buckeye League dual meets. Leading the way for the Skins were Crue Shaner, Gavin Ridenour, and Wyatt Buell who all recorded falls, as well as Zane Russell, Cooper Cecil, and Keyno Mendez who all recorded tech-falls. Wyatt Buells's first period pin allowed him to surpass Caden Mellott as the all-time career leader in Wapak Wrestling history with 105 wins by pinfall.
The middle school Wrestlers also defeated Shawnee 44-18.​

Beau Gilroy finished as Champion and Tytus Follin finished runner-up at the Graham OAC District to qualify for the State tournament in Youngstown. Eli Erb, Zane Allison, and Millie Sells each finished as State Alternates for the March 28th tournament.

Graham Claims Title; Skins Distant Second​
The Graham Falcons were a late add to the Wapak Invitational due to weather concerns and other Teams dropping out. The change in plans had no effect on their mat performance as they crowned seven champions and ran away with Team title. Wapak finished runner-up and crowned two champions as 138 pounder Gavin Ridenour and 175 pounder Wyatt Buell each went 5-0 on the day. Ridenour finished with three pins and a pair of tech-falls while Buell pinned each of his opponents.

MS Wrestlers Finish Runner-up at Raider Invitational​
Bunsold MS (Marysville) was the class of the field at the Benjamin Logan MS Raider Invitational. Wapakoneta and Ben Logan rounded out the top three. Seventh Grader Asher Miller was named Outstanding Wrestler for his 104lb championship performance.

Redskins Remain Perfect in WBL​
The Wapakoneta Wrestling Team moved to a perfect 6-0 in Western Buckeye League dual meets on Thursday with a 73-5 win over visiting Van Wert. The league leading Redskins were led by Hans Sammetinger, Carson Pummell, Bentley Ruck, Wyatt Buell, and Channing Miller who all recorded falls.
The middle school grapplers continue to mirror the high school as they also advanced to 6-0 in WBL duals with a 75-6 win over the Cougars. Leading the way with pins were Landen Friemoth, Gabe Eyanson, Levi Buell and Warren Rivera.
The middle school is in action tomorrow at the Ben Logan Raider Invitational while the high school hosts the Wapakoneta Invitational on Saturday.​

Wapak Wrestling Weekend Roundup​
Wapak Kids Hosts Girls Tournament
Wapak Kids Wrestling hosted an all girls K-6 tournament Friday night at the high school. Fifteen lady Redskin Wrestlers completed with another hundred from around the area at the 2nd annual event. Wapak Wrestlers who finished first included Scarlett Gren, Avery Erb, Mia Bailey, Hazel Prine, Millie Sells, Isabelle Carter, and Hope Erb.

HS Finishes 10th at Maumee Bay
Senior Wyatt Buell finished as the 175lb Champion at Clay High School to lead the Redskins to a top 10 team finish. Buell went 6-0 on the weekend defeating Lebanon's Jackson Martin in the finals 4-1 to claim the title. Buell secured a takedown with one minute to go to clinch the win. Sophomore Keyno Mendez finished runner-up at 165lbs. Mendez carried a 6-2 lead into the third period before falling 8-7 to Springboro’s Khary McCall in the championship match.

MS Finishes Second at Shawnee
Asher Miller (104lbs) and Bennett Bishop (110lbs) paced the junior high matmen to a runner-up Team finish at the Shawnee Junior High Wrestling Championships. Miller went 4-0 on the day with a pair of pins, a decision, and a tech-fall. Bishop finished the day a perfect 4-0, all by way of pin.

Bowers Wins Title at Patrick Henry; Team Finishes 7th
Brielle Bowers (115lbs) led the Wapak lady Wrestlers to a 7th place Team finished at Patrick Henry on Saturday. The Freshman went 3-0 on the day with a pair of pins and a 4-3 decision in the Championship match. Other Placers included Kelsey Greve (2nd at 100lbs) and Abby Furr (4th at 130lbs). Eighth grader Zoey Vaughn went 4-1 with four pins on the day as the middle school Wrestler competing for the ladies.​​

Jackson Places 3rd at Tulsa Nationals
Wapak native JJ Jackson placed Third at the 71st annual Tulsa Nationals in Tulsa Oklahoma. Jackson went 6-1 over the course of the three day tournament against some of the top competition from the entire country. He defeated Camden Danielson of Texas Elite Wrestling 7-0 for bronze. Jackson competes for CP Wrestling Academy.

Wapak Kids Qualify for OAC Grade School State
Several Wapak Kids Wrestlers set out this weekend to punch their tickets to the Ohio Athletic Committee Grade School State Tournament held in Youngstown. Lakota West and Marysville were host to Distrct Qualifiers. At Marysville Oliver Sutter place third and qualified for the March 28th tournament. Mylan Webb placed 5th to be a State alternate, while Eli Erb failed to qualify.
​At Lakota West, Drexler Dobie and Wyatt Follin each place sixth to be State alternates. Others competing included Jaxson Follin, Tytus Follin, Zane Allison, and Millie Sells.
